The Zesto Story

The history of Zesto Ice Cream in Fort Wayne, begins in the 1960s when Sebastian Diettrich took over the first Zesto location in Fort Wayne (Broadway). Zesto’s rich, creamy soft-serve ice cream, made from a secret recipe, quickly won the hearts of locals, establishing Zesto as a beloved neighborhood spot.

As word spread and the demand for Zesto's iconic swirl cones, sundaes, and shakes grew, Diettrich saw the opportunity to expand. Over the following decades, the family carefully opened additional locations across and around Fort Wayne, each maintaining the nostalgic 1950s charm that made the original shop so popular.

From its humble beginnings as a single ice cream stand, Zesto has grown to eight locations in the Fort Wayne area, each one a testament to the family's commitment to preserving the quality and tradition that made Zesto a local treasure. Generations later, three of these (St. Joe Village, Broadway, and Coventry) remain under the careful stewardship of the Diettrich family, while the others operate as locally-owned franchises.

Today, Zesto Ice Cream is more than just a place to enjoy a treat; it's a cherished part of Fort Wayne's history, a gathering place where generations of families continue to make sweet memories.
